Beautiful horse with a lot of diversity

Beautiful horse. And it seems that no sooner did someone suggest to Dawn that they would like it to be a unicorn that Dawn designed a unicorn horn to go with it. Dawn is amazing to work with.

This is great design for 4H gifts! It stitches up fast and easy!
I will say that sometimes on my home machine that is tricky getting over the thickness of his ears but he always turns out adorable!
Lou Ann –
Beautiful horse design! I was concerned about making the mane, but the instructions were very easy to follow. Love this for a horse rescue fundraiser I am going to.

This is a fun stitch out that kids love, especially when converted to a Unicorn. 1st time I stitched the 3D girl was several years ago. 2nd time, it’s stitching as I type. A couple of notes: if you have a single needle machine or an older machine, go very slowly when attaching the yarn for forelock (esp if adding vinyl unicorn horn). It’s thick. This stick out, I opted for fabric versus vinyl and it was still a challenge for my Janome (only 1 broken needle). Next time I make, I’ll probably skip the forelock completely and stitch it on afterwards using my sewing machine with walking foot.
Lastly, the explanation for how to create the ears can be a little confusing. Petite Fleur Designs has a fantastic YouTube tutorial that walks you through the entire construction of the 3D horse. Watch it! Soo helpful.
